What is ASTRACOR?

ASTRACOR is a non-profit 501(c)(3) trade association dedicated to residential construction workers and contractors to serve as a vehicle for skill assessment, community support, career training, and trade advocacy.

ASTRACOR’s independent, non-partisan, non-union approach ensures that members and participants receive specialized construction industry pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and entrepreneurial training which earns them industry recognized, accredited, and/or certified credentials. Members have access to employability and business skills instruction and personal development addressing issues in obtaining and retaining employment or operating a business.

ASTRACOR assists industry businesses, contractors, real estate professionals and homeowners with qualified and experienced construction trades persons and contractors through its quantifiable and verifiable reference system. ASTRACOR offers industry consumers and homeowners the assurance that ASTRACOR’s members are trained and/or certified in adherence to certifications, licenses, OSHA safety regulations, and U.S. Fair Labor Standards.

Qualifications for all training conducted by ASTRACOR or in concordance with  DC Laborers’ Training & Apprenticeship Institute and/or affiliates are officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship Training (BAT), Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (VADPOR), National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and/or the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) as apprenticeable trades. Offerings are structured training programs that are designed to provide contractors with productive, multi-skilled, certified construction craft laborers and trades persons with the most current and essential job skills. Membership and participation in our Champions for Change SkillsUSA chapter also provides our members with the soft employability skills necessary to deal with colleagues, supervisors, and/or customers.
